  • Ignaition Timing?

My 1980G pings under hard acceleration. Iv'e tryed 93 octane gas with no improvement. Any thoughts on this?

check the valves... it's got TCI, so there's nothing to set.

Check the pick-ups.. clean and tighten the bolts if necessary.. not too much, so u don't damage the threads..

check the connectors from the pick-up coil to the TCI unit and ignition coils - sparks...

On my '79F, I would check the vacumm advance. If it is stuck in the advanced postition, pinging might occure.

If you are going to look at the pick-up coils anyway, remove the plate and service the centrifugal advance. Do you think your engine is running way too lean?

          Floyd,

Was just thinking your timing may be off. You are gonna have to haul your ass back up here and we can check it, must be adjustment, or advance unit as others stated.
