  • where can carbs overflow from?

Okay, I got the new float needles(and seats) and set the floats to 25mm.

I verified theat the floats do not have any leaks (submersed in water).

I took a syringe and filled them with water (to be dumped later I live in CO so they'll be dry in 20 minutes) through the fuel lines. If I'm forceful with the syringe, water will come out of the two small holes in on the air filter side and out the uppper fuel lines (there are 4 lines right? 2 upper 2 lower?). Does this mean that I don't have the floats set right?

    Thanks,
    Clark

Only if the floats are set incorrectly and are hitting the top of the carb before they push the needles shut.
Use gas, not water to test... water being thicker.
Had a machine shop, (that didn't lap valves), say that they filled the intake tract with water, and the valves didn't leak. I then filled the tract with gas and the valves pissed all over their workbench! (test with the same material that you'll be using)
There are only two fuel lines, the lower ones. The upper hose are air vents for the float bowls. Fuel coming out of them, or the holes on the filter side means the floats are not shutting off the fuel. Which holes the fuel leaks out of doesn't matter... the fact that it leaks, does.
Get some extra fuel line, flip the carbs over and remove the bowls. Hook the fuel line to an elevated fuel source, and see if it leaks. (The weight of the floats should be enough to hold the needle down and prevent leaks.)

Thanks for the input. I used water because I figure it wouldn't seal the first try and didn't want to invoke the wifes ire. Looked at the carb mystery posts and will try them.

        Thanks,
        Clark
