  • high altitude troubles

    i recently bought a 1979 xs1100 special in denver and brought it up to frisco (9200ft) and am now bogging down @ between 5 and 6 rpm. any suggestions would help.

    Try sychronizing carbs

    that should take care of it if it needs a different mixture, if being off may have caused it.

    maybe read some of this thread, http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...n+line+filters
    it covers some stuff on plug color.

    If your plug color is off, after synchronizing your carbs you may need to ajust your mixture screws.

    I just had mine sychronized at a shop that a guy that goes to my church owns, and he only charged me $25.

    or you may have a set or borrow a set, anyway that's my $.02.

      Hey Jason,

      You didn't provide much info?! Was the bike running fine in Denver? Was it running at all? What type of exhaust and intake do you have, OEM or modified? Does it bog in ALL GEARS, or just in the higher gears?! What jets are in it...main? Depending on your answers will determine what other suggestions we can provide.
