Intake boot clamps

I put on new intake boots but my clamps bottom out, but I can still move them with my hand.That might be my problem with the carbs.Is this normal for the clamps. I sprayed them with starter fluid I got a hint of it reving up. They have got to be leaking with the clamps still loose.Do they stretch over time. Thanks

Those clamps are metal, but I guess they could possibly stretch, but I would think that perhaps the new intakes are just a bit smaller in outer diam/circumference than the OEM's ? Are the clamps truly "bottomed" out, the angled metal parts that hold the nut and bolt are touching each other?

BTW, are you sure you have the right clamps on the right spot, that you don't have the Air Cleaner side clamps on the intake manifold location...they are different item numbers!?

intake clamps

I took the best out of 3 engines. The clamps are touching and bottom out. I just put in my orginal needles. It is the first time I could get the butterflys to sync. I hope this is it on these carbs. My intakes were from yamaha and I ordered some new clamps today. Thanks

Looking at the fiche, I see the hose clamps on the engine side are part number 90460-54085. The hose clamps on the airbox side are part number 90460-58124. Guess what that means:

Done tryed it . The right ones are in the right place.

Okay, if that doesn't work, how about cutting a strip of rubber about the width of the clamps from an inner tube, and gluing it on the inside of the clamp. That might take up enough slack to get the clamp to squeeze tight enough again.

Something else you might want to check is go to a hardware store and buy some hose clamps the size that you need. I use them on my bike. No problems and they are cheaper to boot. Hope this helps.
