Is there a template available anywhere to be able to make your own replacement shield for the original faring?

BTW, the new XS will be delivered to my driveway tomorrow

Just have to figure out where to start..guess first thing is to see if its got a center stand and go from there

Fairing Windshield

I don't know about a template; but J.C. Whitney sells replacement windshields for Vetter Fairings. That is where I purchased a windshield for the Vetter Windjammer fairing on my '80-G.

There is an online site that sells a replacement for the Yamaha. I'll get back in a bit with the location.( once I find it again!!)

The "original" Yamaha fairing has a different windshield than the windjammers. It does not have the rise in the center bottom like the windjammers. If you really have the Yamaha fairing, you can make a cardboard or stiff paper pattern by having someone help you hold the paper to the fairing while you trace the bottom and sides. Then figure how high you want the shield, and how wide to make the top, center this and draw symetrical lines to the bottom, cut this patern from a sheet of heavy clear lexan, use a hair dryer to heat the lexan, or strap it to a black barrel, and leave it in the sun several hours, then allow it to cool, unstrap and drill the holes, and mount the shield. The shield should have a curve in it from top to bottom. Heating the lexan will soften it enough to get a curve put in. Good luck.

OK; just did a Google on windjammer fairing, and here is the home page for the site. www.cyclewareables.com/ They have replacement windshields for almost everything!
They do carry the Pacifico shields, with or without vents.
Just follow the leads for the touring.

XS11's also used Pacifico fairings. Those windshields are also still available aftermarket.
My E has a Pacifico fairing with a Yamaha label on it

The more I look at the faring the more I come to believe that its "one ugly muthuh". I might not even bother with it. Hmmmm, what to do, what to do....

I can agree with that. They are not very "cute".

HOWEVER.....depending on how you ride your bike....You may wanna keep it.

I keep my '79 SF nude for around town and short trips (less than 200-300 miles) But for those 4000 miles road trips I ride my full dressed XJ11. And if you take long long road trips like me the fairing is indispensable.

I have the big windshield on my XJ1100 and it provides me all the protection I have needed although I don't ride in "weather", rain, snow, at night, etc. I know, makes me sound like a squid but at my age I just don't have the reflexes I had in my younger years when I rode year round. My XJ is the sweetest thing I have ever owned I still don't know what i am going to do with the XS other than first getting it running and see how I like it.

I had a Kawasaki Concours with the full faring and didn't care for it either.
