OK, guys....Yet another new guy looking for some advise.
I'll try to keep it short but still give you all the info.
Picked up a 1984 XJ100 a couple of months ago. Haven't taken the course yet, and don't even have my license yet, so my wife says park it till next year. I agreed. This has not stopped me from going in the shed and starting it up though. Much to my suprise yesterday, it wouldn't start. I tried for a while, but the battery died. I pulled my truck up on someone's advise, and left the engine off, and just hooked up the jumper cables up to the bike battery. It cranks and cranks, but just won't go. Got a couple of back-fires, and 2 or 3 times it sounded like it wanted to go, but didn't.
I let it charge a while for a few times, and tried to start it, but nothing. Now, it won't even turn over, just getting clicks from what I'm guessing is the starter.
Please help as I can't bear the thought of going through the winter not knowing if the bike will work next spring. Not only that, I have to run the fuel stabilizer into the carbs, and that won't be easy if the bike is not running.
Any help appreciated....
Andre
