  • Help, I'm stuck, can't remember how the octopus mounts on carbs-xj11

can anybody help me with a picture of your xj1100, or explane how the octopus mounts and in what position on which carb, been fighting with it all afternoon, and line are not reaching as far as I had them routed. I just went through the carbs and diaphrams and now cant get it going because of the stupid octopus (could by-pass it but that would be alot of wasted work)
    any help would be appreaciated!

xjjohn, reach in - tightly grab everything visible - and wrench the whole stupid bloody mess out! These octopus set-ups would have to be the most ridiculous B.S. idea ever invented on a motorbike.

Got rid of my octopus last month and have only forgot to turn the fuel back on once or twice!

John, if you have ebay, pull up the main page. In the upper right hand corner, in blue, ADVANCED SEARCH, click on it and in item # type in 4563094716. Should pull up a set of carbs with Oxt on one of the pictures. Good luck.

A vacuum operated octopus or petcock is a good thing. Yes, they can go wonky and cause touble, but they can be fixed without having to resort any weird black magic. Here's where your fixed octopus goes:

            Thanks

appreciate all the feedback, I went back outside with aliittle of a clearer head, put the gas tank on and figured it out. Got alittle panicked since I was going on about 20 hours straight, (work + work on cycle) since I jumped on the thing this morning after I got off third shift, I was bound and determined to have the Beast ready for the ride to work tonight - with a good idle.
So far so good, I now have to order new needles and seats since most of the needles have a groove, I polished the seats ajusted the floats to 23 mm, cleaned everything, repaired the diaphram on one carb and the diaphram on the octopus, so hopefully it will get better mpg- already better on gas shutting off, now it actually will die once you shut off the gas and let run a few minutes-since no overflowing ect.
well enough of my babbling- you guys are the greatest-best web site I've ever used, thanks again!
