  • carb again

I purchased a synchronizer from j.c. whitney they are gauges. All I do is hook each one up the the intake boots going to the engine? I left the vacuum advance hooked up on #2 and put the petcock on prime. I am having trouble on 2 tuning it in. All 3 carbs are tuned except 2. Am I doing something wrong? THanks for all the help over the past month it has saved me money, and the bike looks better than I thought it would.

You are on the right track with keeping the vacuum advance line connected to the nipple on carb body #2, and with the petcocks both on prime. With each gauge connected to a manifold vacuum nipple, start with the adjustment screw between carbs #1 and #2. Turn that screw until those two gauges read the same. Then repeat this with the screw between carbs #3 and #4 until those two are balanced. Finally, work the adjustment screw between carbs #2 and #3 until the left side gauges match the right side gauges. If your idle has climbed much above 1000 rpm, turn it back down and run through the sequence again. That should do it.

Adjust #1 to #2 as #2 is the master carb so to speak. Adjust #3 to #4. Now using the middle screw adjust left and right bank together. So all carbs are set to #2
