Hey JohnFrench,
If you're talking about the Pilot Idle Screws on the top of the carbs, the standard setting is 1-1/4 turns out from a gentle seat to get you started, then depending on what you have, like a Colortune, you can fine tune it from there. Without color tune, folks talk about turning each one either out or in until the engine rpms change, then back out again. I know there's a tech tip or link to carb pilot jet tuning somewhere, just can't remember now, and it's late, gotta get to bed!
But if you're talking about the MAIN single Idle Screw, it's either under the carb bank,or in the back, and you adjust AFTER the bike warms up to the idle you want, ~1000 or so. Just remember that it might not idle well when starting out cold without the enrichener engaged?!
