will the diaphrams and petcocks for the 650 fit for the xj? I was going to order the kit since my diaphram for the octi is bad,

also I bipassed the octo the other night and just put a screw in the hose that goes to the intake is this a bad idea? Today when I got to church bowl one was overflowing and cylinder missing maybe two cyl missing, so I tried to turn the petcock between off and reserve to slow the flow for riding home, got home ok, now have to take carbs off again, and have to wait to order parts till friday but cant wait that long i dont think without riding, fall is upon us and getting chilly at night.....

any suggestions, oh by the way I made a couple other points on the other carb thread, I guess I'll take em off tomorrow and re-presynck butterflys, and clean out everything again, may have got some rubber in bowl with by-pass,

one more thing, the seat cant wear out with rubber tipped needles can they??

thanks again (oh I'm waiting on $ for the spin - on filter adapter also)

I have seen the rubber tips just come competely off of the needles before. I had that happen on my 81 when I first bought it.

        Hey there XJ11John,

Sorry for the delay, was very busy this weekend! YES, the Diaphragms are the same.....providing you order the ones for the 80-84 BS34 model carbs!!!

The seats are solid metal and don't wear out necessarily, but the O-ring seal can shrink, and may need replacing...that can also cause a overflowing carb. Also, some corrosion can build up inside, but a tech tip is to take a small drill bit and turn it backwards inside the seat to clean the seat without actually cutting into it with the cutting edges of the drill....backwards...CCW rotation!.

As for the petcocks, not sure, we had a question posted asking a 650 owner to measure the mounting bolt hole distances to compare with the XS11, haven't checked that thread yet!?

No problem, have several adaptors waiting for buyers!

          Thanks again T.C.

Just replyed to my other post, and told how I took the seat out and the O-rings were cracked/dryrotted, so replace them with valve stem o-rings, seems to be sealing fine, the old seats came right out with a needle nose pliers, they were really worn out!

that along with the grooved needles, is probably the whole gasoil problem, and the overflowing problem idleing.

So as I said in other post came back inside after that, and ordered the needles from Mikesxs.net - that were the same according to the Yamaha website part #'s for the assembly, so I ordered the same application for 650-just the needles, at $ 4.00 ea. quite a bargain.

Thanks for the help, see you.
