  • xj1100 Maxim crankcase ventilation

I have a 1982 Maxim XJ1100 that had the air box removed and separate performance air cleaners installed by the previous owner. What can I do with the crankcase ventilation hose? It currently is just lying under the tank and smokes now and then. Any suggestions? I don't have the air box. Thanks.

Basically, find a filter that will fit in the breather hose to keep the vermin out, and just put up with the smoke. You could lenghten the hose and secure it next to the air filters so the smoke will be drawn in to the engine.

You can get a nice chromed filter to put on the end of the tube and mounted to the frame similar to this one from JCW:

      T.C.
      T. C. Gresham
      81SH "Godzilla" . . .1179cc super-rat.
      79SF "The Teacher" . . .basket case!

          auto zone

i went to auto zone in the hiperformance sec. look for the little breathers by the import stuff. comes in like 4 different colors. 9.99 i believe, then i found a short lenghtth of tubing that fit inside the rubber and clamped the breather on. looks good and no smoke.
