I purchased some Ching Shin Baracudas 6000. My back tire has about 1/8 inch tread in the center. Is this normal? There is only about 3000 miles or less on these tires.

I once put a set of cheng shin tires on my XS11 SF, and left on a vacation trip. At a bit over 2,100 miles, the rear blew, cause there was no tread remaining. These soft rubber tires do NOT last on a heavy powerful bike. The front went about 6,000 miles before it was bald. I have since used Dunlop Elite 491's, an excellent tire. But now I have a Dunlop 404 on the rear of my F, and it is holding up very well, with about the same performance both in wear and traction as the 491's did, and cost a bit less, and have the same tread pattern. I will keep getting 404's when I need tires again. I get them from Donelson Cycles in MO, good price and quick delivery. I mount and balance my own.put something smooooth betwen your legs, XS eleven

The XSEleven is too heavy of a bike for cheap tires. I am also going to the Dunlops. I do have another brand on the rear at the moment.(Metzler Marathon) It has lasted about 12K miles so far, but the wet handling is VERY poor.
You need to check the max weight limit on any tire you buy. For the XSEleven, it should be about 800lbs for the rear tire.Ray Matteis
