Re: Aluminum
Strip off the clear coat if any is present. Wet and dry sand paper with 600 grit, followed by 1000 grit. Finish-up with mother's milk or Eagle1 polish (goood stuff!). When satisfied, polish with carnuba wax.

There's alot of information about polishing in Tech Tips, Maintenance (left column).
Also, do a "search" for oxidation - there was a recent thread about using Drano or lye, to clean the aluminum.Rick

I use a fine file to get out the gouges, then #320 to get out the file scratches, then #400 to get out the #320 scratches, then #600, for those, then#0000 steel wool with Mother's polish, then on to the buffing wheel.
takes forever.... but I lead a wretched and worthless existance anyway.
But I do have nice looking aluminium!"Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor, not a mechanic!' ('Bones' McCoy)
