Has anyone wired one of those generic reg/rect things into you xs11? I'm having trouble finding an economical replacement on ebay, the last two i bought tested bad, and did not work at all. the parts-n-more generic seemed like a cheaper option than the oem part. I'm lost on the wiring of this thing, the instructions are bogus, and its got me stumped. Anyone tried it? any help would be appreciated.

What ever you do don't try getting them to warranty it...
The XS11 feeds full power to one side of the field coil (brown wire) and grounds the voltage regulator gounds the other side (green wire) as needed.
I suspect that universal reg/rec unit is designed to work with charging systems with one side of the field coil grounded. That would be backwards of how the XS11 regulator was designed to work...
