    Viking,

A good reason for it choking could be bad gas flow. make sure none of the fuel lines are kinked. Also, did you check the floats to make sure they float and that they are set to the correct height?

Hey Thumper, thanks for the tips, keep em coming.
I did check the float measurement to within specs, and doubt its bad gas. I sealed the inside of the tank with epoxy sealer i learned from this list. triple checked the fuel lines for kinks. also learned by touching the exhaust pipes (after it cooled a bit) and learned that #2 and #4 are not firing. I checked sparked on those and no problem there, spark is good... double checked prime in float bowls, thats ok too.
hmmm, Ive done alot to this bike to get it where it is.
timing? I did remove and re-install the cams, triple checked timing marks on crank and cams after two turns each.
      what am I missin ?

Don, are you getting gas through the two not firing? I had a dang dirt dobbers nest in one of my T's which prevented the garb from getting gas.

I had some carbs with kind of critter right on top of the screen on the float seat assembly. That one stumped me for a while.

First, I don't suggest testing for heat by touch. Some people have a good reaction time and can we the finger and not get burned. I just use a spray bottle with water to test for heat. Should sizzle away immediatly if running. I can't think what 2 and 4 have in common though. Since each coil fire 1-4,2-3, then it does not seem to be that.

You can try swapping plug wires on those cylinders (Move spark wire from 1 to 4 and plug wire 2 -3 or if you can get under the tank you can do it right at the coils) and see if the same problem occurs with 2 and 4 not getting hot.

If you still have the same issue, then check for cracks in the intakes. Spray some wd-40 or starter fluid at the intakes and see if there is any change in the way it runs.

yup, only runnin on two cylinders, #1 and #3 spark plugs have gas on them, #2 and #4 spark plugs are not gettin any gas. it cranks and starts on two cyl. give it gas and it dies.
hmmf I rebuilt the carbs, measured floats, but who knows... Ive only rebuilt a couple carbs for cars, this was a first for bike carbs. I checked for gas at the float bowl drain and its ok. fuel flow thru lines ok too, clear/see thru lines. I know fuel is getting to the float bowl, but what next? clog? huh?

If you have a vaccuum leak on the intake, you may not get fuel into the cylinders which is why I mentioned spraying the intakes. I had this happen on my number 4 cylinder. Sprayed and it woke up like out of a dream.

You can also trye taking off the air filter and spraying starter fluid directly into the carbs if it turns out to not be a intake manifold leak. That way for sure you know fuel is getting to the cylinder through the carb. You can also check for motion of the butterflies and needle jet as well to make sure they are moving OK.
