How many Midnight Specials?
I've noticed an increase in the number of Midnight Specials mentioned. I was wondering how many are on this list.

I bought my '80 LG last year and sold my '82 KZ440 to a friend. The 440 was lighter and better handling but I love the quickness of the midnight special. Plus it looks that much better.Comment

I took mine out of the crate and helped with the assembly. March of 1980. Dressed it with Vetter fairing and lowers, tail trunk and saddlebags. Added the gold accent stripes for a very nice look. A year later I added the sound system to help with the road trips.

Well, I've got one, too. Mine runs like new. Should, since it only has 3600 miles (9/7/2005). Love it, and probably would not trade it for a new bike in the showroom, unless it's a new Midnight.Midnight Rider

I have an 1100 Midnight Special that I bought new in 1981. I rode it 6k miles and then let it sit too long and you know what that does to carbs. It got lost in the clutter while I did other things, but now after years of collecting dust it's running again. Mine is an LH, which I think means the last year of production. What does LG designate? The first year? How many of these bikes were made?

LG -LH
The LG designates the model year 1980. The L meaning Midnight Special and the G means 1980. Like the first xs11 in 78 was the E model, then the 79 was the F, and the 79 Special was the SF, etc...Comment
