    Hey, guys--

I've seen some bikes with hadlebar risers that not only raise the bars higher, but also move them back toward the rider an inch or two. I don't recall offhand if I've seen this on XS's or on other bikes.

If anyone knows of a source, or has a set they want to part with, I'd be happy to hear from you. I'm setting up to do my first Saddlesore 1000 on the H during Labor Day weekend. I love my seat (Russell...moment of silence, please), but I do experince a bit of upper back pain after several hundred miles (800 in a day is my current record). I think moving the bars back a bit might be the answer.

    Any ideas?

      Hey BikerHawk,

Instead of just risers, they are called Setbacks for just the reason you mentioned! There is a set on my basket case that look quite simple to fabricate out of some 1" thick plate stock, and I'll be looking into that possibility later, once I get my LATHE up and running, and then get a MILLING platform for it!

The guy I'm getting this bike ready for hasn't contacted me once since he went on his deployment, so not sure if he'll be getting it back when he gets back!? But he wanted them, so I can't part them out. And, I was thinking of putting them on my machine IF he doesn't want the 79SF back!

I've seen this plate style, as well as DOG BONE...where it looks like a stretched figure 8, with a 7/8" bar that mounts in the OEM location, the figure 8 pair clamps to this bar, and then your bars mount in the other end of the figure 8 clamps. I've seen them listed on Ebay. Most of the Dogbones I've seen in magazines and online are for 1" bars! Darn Cruisers!!!

        Risers

Here are some that I found a few months ago
        http://www.equinoxmc.co.uk/index.php...products_id=96
I have a set on both of my specials. I also found some here inthe US but I can't find their website. Do an internet search, that's how I found them.

John, that's exactly what I'm looking for (but hopefully not at that price...). Thanks for the info...and again, if anyone doesn't want theirs...

Put XJ bars on your bike, they are not that hard to install, and almost infinitely adjustable. With an H, you might need longer throttle and clutch cables, but you will probably need them with the setbacks.

FYI, something else to watch for....I've found the front brake hose to be the most restrictve part when going for higher bars or bars with more pullback. The hose from the master cyl to the banjo junction on the triple clamp on my E won't allow me to install slightly higher greater pullback bars.

When I installed my dogbone risers, I also had to reroute the throttle and clutch cables so they wouldn't bind when the front wheel turned from side to side.
