Don't let anyone tell you it's not hard work
Whew! I've been working on this thing for two days now, would be finished except I messed up and didnt plug the bango bolt up good enough when I used a grease gun on the right front caliper and guess what.... grease in the brake line!!!!
I went over to a friend's hose that has an air compressor and we tried to no avail to blow the grease out, so then he came up with some steel braded wire just the right size, and that worked pretty good, I had brake cleaner coming out one end when I sprayed through it. Then the unthinkable happend, I saw some aluminum foil come out that end, (that is what I attempted to plug up the banjo bolt so the grease would not go up the brake line) well I quickly picked it out, I thought good there is some of what I was afraid was up there, anyway later I sprayed brake cleaner the other direction a few times just to make sure everything was clean, (of course after I left friend's house- with none of the good wire) You guessed it I plugged it up again!! of coarse it was close to 9 at night and I was'nt going back all that way and disturb him and his family, so I went to a local parts store that stays open till 9 and picked up so more brake cleaner and a roll of not as good wire, came home tried to no avail to get the wire down the line brake line for the front, and all rubber, so i called him and he is dropping of some of the wire tomorrow. So I tackle it one more day-which makes it a two whole day and however it takes tomorrow to wrap things up.
But I did get the rear master cylinder clean and working, the plunger was very rusty, and so I took apart the plunger cleaned inside the bore with one of those green scrubby pads and some brake fluid as well as penetrating oil, clean as a whistle now, oh and cleaned it with brake cleaner and then put some brake fluid back in it to lubricate it. the back brakes are all ready to go. The front master cylinder plunger is not cooperating, it is not coming back to rest on the stricker of the handgrip like it is supposed to, tomorrow I'll put the line back on-if all goes well, and see if I can get it to work without taking the plunger out and cleaner the whole thing, if not well wish me luck, I'd hate to have to order a rebuild kit and have to wait for it for 3 days after this entire fiasco, burning my two days off, (I work nights so I'll use part of tomorrow-then sleep and back to work tomorrow night-hopefully on the beast!) thanks all for posting, we'll hollar at ya'll later, time for bed! bye.
