I don't know. But I wonder if a guy could figure it out by serial number. There is a XS/XJ registry out on the web somewhere and owners post their VIN too.

      For instance, Zeus is 3H3-015760

The '79 SF began with 3H3-000101. So I assume mine was the 15,659th SF built. No?

If that's the case then we know at least 15, 659 SF were built. Seems like a lot doesn't it? I don't know I'm just guessing here.

Zilla is 10M-003949. All XJ1100 began at 10M-000101 so I suppose Zilla was the 3848th XJ11 to roll off the assembly line.

      Anybody else have any thoughts?

        XS/XJ PRODUCTION

I TOO WROTE TO YAMAHA TO ASK FOR FIGURES FOR PRODUCTION
BUT THEY WROTE BACK AN SAID THAT THEY DO NOT GIVE THEM OUT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. OLD BLUE IS NUMBER 10M004019
SO I GUESS THAT MAKES HER NUMBER 3918 OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY WERE MADE ALSO, SO IF ANY ONE CAN FIND OUT PLEASE LET US KNOW.
        Thanks Tom

If they don't give them out to the general public who then?

          Maybe to the media.

I bet as much traffic as this site gets we could request the production figures for the XS/XJ series. We could tell them we are doing research for an article that will be posted here...a sort of "ODE TO THE XS11".

Heck I'll even write it or pitch in to write the thing.

If they'd just give the final serial number of each model/year we could figure it out...no?

          TC??? You listening?

The Falcon is 3H3-000427. Could they really have made that many of these, er.. XS's?

Well it's all a guess on my part unless someone can verify it's correct. It makes sense considering that's all a serial number is. I would think as popular as these bikes were world wide they probably made at least 15 or 20,000 each year world wide.

i'd love to know which us state it was registered in and even find out it's original license plate no.

it was imported to uk few years ago ,i'd like original plate to hang above it

sad hey but there you go!!
