  • 79sf front fork / caliper square braket - spare please?

I was working on my 79sf front forks the other day and lost the square braket that fits on the underside of the fork where the brake caliper mounts. It's the bracket that holds the tops of the brake pads to the fork.

Does anyone have a junk pair of 79sf forks with a spare?

    ????????????

Hey Ben. The SF doesn't have any square brackets that hold the pads to the fork. Are you sure it's not an F model fork assembly? Is it on a standard or a special?

It's a 79sf. The axle hole on each fork is a few inches up the fork, not on the very bottom like my 80g.

The calipers bolt on with a single bolt from the bottom side. Once they are getting tight, the pads swing up and there are tabs on the top of each brake pad that fit into the recessed slot on the fork mounting assembly. I lost the little metal bracket and I fear that was a time consuming mistake, since that part shows discontinued everywhere. My only hope now appears to be a junkyard or an entire set of forks....

Looks like they don't come with the brake pads. Probably have to fabricate something...

Didn't even look to me like it came with the rear pads. I have a bracket on the other side. Worse case scenario is I have to fabricate one.

Maybe I'm lucky today. I think my Dad found it in the grass after I told him where I thought I may have lost it....
