  • Charging Prob Chart

Was searching the KZRider site hoping to steal some tips to fix an old cop bike at work that's not charging. Stumbled across this "Charging probs diagnostic flow chart". Was a link for a place called ELECTROSPORT.com. Seems they build or sell coils, stators, regulators, etc, so figured they know what they're talking about. It's in PDF format, four pages long, and covers several brands.
(... put the red lead of your voltmeter on the [Kawasaki=black, Honda=green, Yamaha= black, Suzuki=brown] wire from the regulator and get the reading...)

    Accurate, I don't know.
Just thought I'd share.... might be handy some day.

I've seen that diagram. It's the most confusing document ever created by a non-government agency.

Thanks Geezer.... I thought it was just me. I went through a couple o' steps and got in a feedback cycle. "This is what's wrong, fix it and check again." but still got the same reading each time. Luckily, any cop bike that doesn't charge usually means regulator.

Charging systems aren't rocket science and I'm not sure why so many manuals make it so hard to figure out what's wrong.

I don't have regulators for Suzukis later than the triples but I'm always happy to offer an opinion...

BTW, I'm working on a replacement unit for the XS11 but I won't offer it for sale until I have the 3-wire plug for it in stock. However these aren't in too much demand and I don't expect to sell many.
