  • Bike died at work

Hey everyone. I've been out for a while getting moved into my new place. whew! I hate moving!! But anyway I have a small prob. I went out to my bike the other morn going home and put the key in and hit the starter. As soon as I hit the starter everything died. I now have nothing when I turn on the key. I checked the battery and there is 12.4 volts of juice but nothing when I turn the key. It was all there before I hit the starter button but now there is nothing. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks,

Check out the 30 amp main fuse. 78's have it on the fuse block. Other later models have it on the laft side under the seat in a rubber housing.

I too had the same problem, I checked all my fuses and connections but nothing worked until I cleaned the connectors ! If you follow the wires out of the starter button on the handle bars I think there was only one or two connectors ! After cleaning them it fired right back up !! I would try that

Oh yes, you can also put in neutral and jumper across the solinoid with metal plyers handles... if it works.

I had to use this method last year coming home from the rally in Prince Edward County. Made a mess of the pliers, but it got me home.

Correct me if I'm wrong, or educate me, but if the main fuse is toast, how could jumping the solenoid start the bike?

              Hey Randy

I think He was quoting on that one, not talking about the main fuse anymore,

After getting the bike home and some diagnostics I found that the battery was toast. Bike is running fine now with the exception of the valve noise.??..!! Still havn't figured that one out yet. Thanks,
