  • Ultimate XS 11

I just had to put this on the board. I just got back to Reno from the MotoGP and AMA Superbike races at Laguna Seca (anyone else go?). Yamaha is celebrating 50 years in USA and brought many of their museum bikes from Japan to display ffor us fans. When I entered the tent I was confronted by a 1979 XS 11 Standard in maroon with 8 miles on it. I forgot how beautiful they are in bone stock. People were standing around talking about the performance wars between brands back in 1980. The plaque stated, "the undisputed horsepower king of its day". Also there was a 250cc YDS2 (my first bike), Kenny Roberts 750cc 2 stroke dirt track monster that the AMA made illegal to race (when it went 3 times faster than the Harleys) and various other brand new 25 year bikes! The MotoGP bikes are like Formula one cars(280lbs with almost that much HP), what a great race, especially since Americans placed 1st and 2nd (Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards) with the favorite placing 3rd (Valentino Rossi)...go USA, the race comes to the US for the 1st time and we dominate! Next year, Laguna Seca, Monterey Peninsula, 2nd weekend in July, start planning now! Doyle

Ok I'm writing it down that Doyle talks big but didn't let us look.
Just kidding wish I could have gone. But next time you better post pics. Never seen one with 8 miles on it.
There's always a way, figure it out.

          Were the keys in it?

Ok here's one of the sweetest looking '80 Gs I've ever seen...period. If you're in the market for a full dressed Eleven this may be your dream machine. 5296 miles...original owner(64 year old woman)...always garaged...ridden in the rain only once (to church by 64 year old woman).

Wow, is that yours? I've never seen so much polishing on an XS, the front rotors, wheel etc. make it look so light and new! I am going to rethink some stuff on my current restoration! Any more pics? Thanks for sharing. Doyle

Beauty Winterhawk.... Looks like a Merriam Cycles creation.... or is it a home grown project.

That's a Bob Jones deal (Merriam Cycles). Winterhawk may own it but Bobby re-built it.

This one is out of my price range. Yes it is a Bob Jones creation and Merriam Cycle still owns it. Not sure on the price.
