  • Air in Front Forks with Progressive?

I seemed to remember reading somewhere that you don't need to use air in the front forks if you use the correct spacer? Just installed new progressives (actually still working on the first one, how did I end up with extra spacers?) Only taken me a week for the 1st fork and I THINK its on correctly. Not comfortable with the head bearing feeling yet (I replace those also). Too sloppy so I guess more adjustment is needed.

Its a bitch when you only have one good arm to work with, actually both work but one better than the other (tried to stop a runaway pickup truck, didn't work)

Thanks for all the help so far guys and gals. I do appreciate it.

Many, including me, who have gone to Progressive springs in our XJs don't use air, but that is a matter of preference. There is no reason you can't continue to use air if that gives you the ride you want.

      air

I have the Progressive springs and have been using a very low air pressure (3 lbs.) onl because when the shock oil is pressurized it has less tendency to aireate. At least that's the logic behind automotive gas pressurized shocks.
