79 xs1100 special grab bar

Just got around to checking out my grab bar and it will bolt on, but not follow the contour of the seat. Has anyone "field modified" one by bending the tube by the back bracket to make it look like a 79 xs11 special grab bar? This one needs rechromed anyway.
