WOW I finally took the time to get set up so I can post. I've been reading and gleaning information since May when I bought an old 79 xs11 special to rebuild. As a matter of fact just like the one I bought new in 79, carmine red even. It's been a long voyage but am finally able to ride again! I can't express in words the amount of information I have gleaned from this forum. The old 79 sf had sat outside long enough that the clear coat and paint was shot on the tank and no side covers to even put paint on. Both front and rear fenders and front forks were a rusted mess. The seat and pan were shot. The fuse box was shot (typical I found out) it had a cobbled up header system in place, I guess I could go on and on. Ebay has been kind to me. Finding good used parts in Colorado, Washington, Pennsylvania and Indiana has gotten me to the point it looks presentable now. The amazing thing about ebay is (so far) I have yet to be screwed! Well before I get too wild eyed I better close and start working on my list of questions to post so I can get it finished up. This is an excellent site!
