    Yamaha heavy duty fork springs

Well, I got 'em installed and have ridden an hour or so over various terrain. FYI, the HD springs are identical in appearance to the stock fork springs. The HD springs offer a bit stiffer ride, but not at all uncomfortable. Handling is more solid and not quite as mushy in corners. Front end dive is still there when braking, but not as pronounced as with the lighter? stock springs. I haven't ridden an XS with Progressive fork springs to compare, but you'd have to bet on those being better than 27 year old technology. I think I will still do an upgrade to Progressives somewhere 'down the road' but for now, I'm happy with the modest improvement.

I checked the part #'s on Yamaha and the part # for the HD is the normal spring. I think your old springs were just tired. That's why they looked the same.
There's always a way, figure it out.

Hmm. According to the parts list I was looking at, there are indeed two different part nos. for fork springs.
      Standard springs are 2H7-23141-00-00
      Heavy duty springs are 2H7-23141-10-00
Anyway, I put the "10's" in.

        2H7-23141-10-00 SPRING (HEAVY DUTY) OPTIONAL
