Rust Removal on Headers

As part of my restoration project for my XJ I have to do some serious rust removal on my headers, mucho surface rust but they still seem very solid otherwise.

Plan on doing it when I replace the forks, using my grinder with the appropriate brush. Which leads to my question...brass or stainless brush?

I had a bunch of chrome parts electrically stripped a while back for the restoration project I'm working on. The under side of the fenders were severely rusted, so I had the shop also dip them in some sort of bath that totally wiped out the rust. I'm not sure what type of acid it was, but boy, did it ever clean up the rust.

Happy Fathers Day to me. I got the best gift from my girl (xj). Every bolt and nut on the exhaust system came out slick as sn*t. Rust isn't as bad on the headers as I thought it would be but rust removal by dippinig sounds interesting and something to persue further.

Now I just have to wait til the new forks get here, replace the elephant ears, derust the front frame/prime/paint while I am waiting.

And, I guess since fork oil has been sitting on the right front caliper I might as well pull that, replace the seals, buff it up..maybe even a touch of paint.

i think my summer is a lil better than yours. I'm rackin up miles instead of working on it... ,i'll save the work part for unrideable weather like snow time

I still have my XJ750 to ride. Just a different type of ride than the big girl...and I like big girls. It was about 70 degrees here in San Francisco Bay Area. Did a nice morning ride.
