    Strange oil light problem

    I've noticed lately that my oil/brake/tail light is on while at cruising speed. It seems that if I hit either brake enough to turn the brake light on, it goes out. Ususlly it stays out but sometimes it takes a few tries. Bulb problem, wiring, anyone else had this happen?

    You may want to check you head and tail lamps for one of the double filaments being burnt out. Also check the wire connections in the headlamp bucket.

      I had intermittent oil/brake/tail light indication. I knew it wasn't an oil problem. I checked the oil pressure switch and its connections anyway. They checked out good. I checked the bulbs. They were fine. Finally, I discovered behind the fusebox there are 2 bullet connectors that connect the rear brake switch into the wiring harness. The connectors were rusted from battery acid corrosion/moisture. I cleaned them and that fixed the problem.

        Also check the front brake light switch. I would get an intermitting oil/brake light while riding and after wiggling the front brake level the light would go out, replaced the switch and my intermitting light problem has stopped.
