  • Restoration question...

I'm working on a '79 F model and I'm going through the control components on the handle-bar. On the clutch and brake lever assemblies there are little glued on labels for "start", "horn" "engine run" etc.

I need just the "off-run-off" label. Any ideas on where to come up with such an item?

In case anyone is interested, I had great success reproducing the white painted on: oil, headlight etc., labels on the instrument cluster. I used white dry transfer letters from Hub Hobby Center. They had a font that was nearly identical to the point that only I will notice the slight difference.

This label stuff may seem trivial but I am trying to bring this bike to show quality. So, any ideas out there?

    Thanks!

one other thought is if you have a good color printer, you can buy a program called incriber title motion... this is a proffesional font program. it cost 300.00 just my thoughts.

Nice to see that someone is going to all the trouble to fully restore a xs11. I cannot think of a single source of lettering or labels NOS for the XS1100. You will have to make them yourself or have them made by a independent source. Yamaha has no interest in bikes already sold, and most of us on this list are just trying to keep the old iron running. Stock was just the way they came. There is no way a true rider can keep one of these old bikes stock. They were made to ride and that wears them out. Just my two cents worth. Good luck on your restoration.

            Jeff,

If you're looking for a new label for your pilot box, check out my solution here on my website. It's a laser printed transparency reverse printed so the image is underneath the plastic face. I drew it in AutoCad.

Sorry for the second post, but it took me a while to remember this one.

The OFF-RUN-OFF switch label ( and many others) is available from this Repro Decal site. Their products are very good quality.

Randy's templets work and look great. The letters are a bit smaller than stock but only a tiny bit.
