Looking for some guidance.... I am restoring a '79 xs1100 F I got from my father-in-law. He had the factory fairings and side bags. I am restoring it to factory condition without the fairings and bags or as close as I can get. Exhaust will be challanging.

My question is, currently the tail lights are mounted on a bar which extends right behind the license plate/tail light housing. Is this where they go when side bags were mounted?

Since I will not be mounting side bags, do they really belong in the sockets under the seat?

Jeff;
They do mount in the sockets under the seat. The rubber grommet from the rear mount should fit into the mount under the seat. Be aware of the internal slot and ear on the mount and grommet.
