  • Handling new handles

I just got a pair of new control levers from bikebandit. I installed them and they look great. However, I'm a little confused as to how much I should tighten the bolts holding them in and the nuts of said bolt. Seems like they're either too tight and don't pull in without a lot of interference or they have a lot of vertical wobble.

The left one is less of an issue than the right. But the clutch cable seems to click when released after being disengaged.

Should I be lubing them too?

Some of the older Honda's had thin nylon washers on both sides of the lever where the pivot bolt goes through to take up the clearance. If the play really bothers you, see if you can find something similar to use as shims like Honda did.

With new levers, one thing to watch out for is the part of the clutch lever where the cable feeds through. Take fine sandpaper or a small file and clean up any sharp edges and casting flash that you find there. It only takes a couple of weeks of riding to cut through a new cable if there is any casting flash left in there. Ask me how I know that.
