.. thursday night at our local track is test and tune night, its practice ,the only race is with yourself ..this is the night you go make some passes to figure out what your vehicle is capable of
.. I used to drag race [bracket race bikes] up until 4 years ago and yeah its a freakin blast!
..it would be cool if i could just show up on race night and write down a number that i wished it would go and race/win

.. just in case everyone hasn't gotten tired of seeing me posting my dyno results over and over, i'm going to drive it right on home with one more just to make sure.
.. todays dyno results "de'jour" are of the before and after kind.. the bottom lines[green] is the previous run that i did saturday, the top lines[blue] is tonights run.. the red line is suppose to be optimum fuel/air mixture ..below the red line means it's rich..
it still looks like i need to make things leaner
.. torque and horse power are up from my previous run: torque is up 2 ft lbs to 58.66, horsey's are up 3 to 81.70 and the lines have gotten a little straighter ..change is good..
.. still not as good as the "ugly" but this is the difference between a bike that is almost stock and with alot of miles and a bike with a 4 into 1 exhaust, k&n tapered oval individual air filters and moderate milage
      ..

Of course we're not tired of this Pig! Keep it up, it's getting more and more interesting, after all this is what dynos are for.

XS650SJ "The Black Bike", engine from XS650H with 750cc big bore kit, 30k miles

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, "WOW, what a ride !" - [URL="http://www.flyingsnail.com/Sprung/index.html"]Sprung[/URL]

              .. no competition
..i was the only old fat guy there with an old fat bike that night. the 20 others were all young skinny guys and all were riding 2000 and up GSXRs. from 750s to 1300s ..the only guy i had a chance hanging with was running in the low 12s, and he was pissed ,i think he didn't know how to ride his new gsxr 750 very well yet.. everyone else 11 seconds or better all the way down to Turbo Jonny doing 8.70 with his suped up hiya-what-ever but he's always the fastest guy at the this track on a street going bike
.. so it was pretty much just practice..
next time i'll drag my buddy with the buell out with me, his bike only does 13 even and he can't keep the front wheel on the ground off the line, i used to beat him up with my old xs11 i called "The Drag Turd" ..he he he

GNE, have you experimented with the larger pilot air jet sizes? 180's and 210's seem to be a common size on XS11 carbs. With bigger fuel jets and 210 air pilots, maybe the ratios will lean out but still be pumping in plenty of gas. Also the good ole drilled out airbox trick.

.. pggg, i'm experimenting with those items right now
i've poked 5- 1/2" holes in the bottom of the air box
i'll make a change then throw it on the dyno again to see how it goes .. it looks like i'm going in the right direction though..

hello everyone, i have more dyno results, more horse power and more torque for the "Red" bike!..
.. this time i made changes to the stock exhaust with good results ..this change was not easy and because i was in a hurry the welds on the end of my muffs look like crap, but they're sealed. the sound is a pretty good one, not to loud but nice, deep and mean.. almost like the sound of a certain jardine 4 into 2 exhaust that i am so fond of.. the air/fuel ratio line still states that i'm running rich but my plugs are looking kinda on the lite side .., all thats left to do is start dumping butt loads of money into this bike ..the wife, kids and i could stand to loose some weight but it's not likely, so it looks like i'm done with this one..for now

this first picture is a compairo of my previous dyno test[green] and todays test[red].. my peak hp is now 82 and my peak torque is now 61 ftlbs ..

the second pic is a compairo of my first dyno run[green] and tonights run[blue].. looks like i'm doing something right

Congrats, that's what Yamaha claimed for torque when the bike was new! At the crank! Smokin'!
