Rear master cyl problem

Well, i rebuild my whole rear brake setup (just purchased the bike from a friend, and ive rebuild the carbs *thanks to XS11.com's help*, as well as the front brakes.. and after reading the rear sticking brake problem that the xs's have.. i went ahead and rebuilt them too)

anywho, i was attempting to bleed the rear, and as you pump the brake pedal, No fluid gets sucked out of the resiviour, Yet, you can feel pressure being pushed/pulled from the caliper... Just seeing if there is any advise rolling around..

just wondering if anyone can figure something out.. i havent been able to go check it out.. its at a friends house, ill be swinging by there wed, or thurs to figure it out, but if someone had any clues, it would help

When you press and hold the pedal, does fluid come out of the bleeder when you crack it open? The rear master cylinder does not pump a lot of fluid at the besttof times. It would take quite a few rounds of "pump and hold, crack bleeder, close bleeder" to get a noticeable drop in fluid level in the reservoir.

wow.. No it doesnt.. No fluid comes out... i was wondering if after rebuilding the cyl, i should have primed it eh?.. lubed it with brakefluid (like i did), then just filled it up, and started pumping first.. before connecting the brake line.. Im unsure, BUT, i will find out by thurs for sure.

If you've got no fluid coming out, you're probably dealing with one of two things. The bleeder and/or the screw hole in the caliper is blocked; or, the system is still full of air.

You can actually 'bench bleed' the rear system before installing it. Have a look at ratbyk's response in this brake thread.
