  • Sizing XJ turn signals?

    Hey there XJ owners,

Could someone do me a slight favor and measure the total length of their rear turn signals, from bottom of stalk to top/end of signal bulb holder?? I'm thinking that they are slightly shorter than the round XS11 style, and when I made my Saddlebags, I miscalculated the location of the signals on the saddlebag bracket, and it blocks my access to the locking latch of the bag top, and a shorter stalk/bulb assembly would allow clearance to be able to open the bags and retain my round style signals!

Thanks in advance, Chevy, Jerry, John, or whoever replies!

I would do it NOW. But I'm in Oregon on vacation.

    Sorry.

If this is what you're looking for, then it seems to be 7"

I get 6.5" from the end to the base of the stalk. I think that number can be changed by loosening the bolt and sliding the turn signal light housing on the stalk. -Tom.
EDIT: I just looked closer at the picture above. when measured like that I also get 7". I was measuring to the chrome part of the base. the sloping of the bracket is the 1/2" difference.

I came up with 7 inches on mine also. Treaded part adds 1/2 inch for total of 7.

            Thanks everyone,

Well, darn. My Specials are actually shorter than that, but they are solid, light and the stalk. I need the light to be no more than 4.5 " total in length, to clear my latches. I was hoping to use the XJ's cause it could be mounted onto a stalk, possibly shorter, but it looks like the light is pretty big by itself, and if I try to use the XJ stalk, (I have the square mounting holes already cut), it will be too long. So...I'll probably use the XJ's light, but will make a stalk, that will allow a FLUSH mount right up to the base of the main light unit, that should put it at 4.5" or shorter!

            Thanks again everyone! T.C.
