  • Valve adjustment made easy

I was adjusting my valves and then trying to do the math on my oily piece of paper and ended up getting frustrated.

So I went in the house and did a quick (15k) excel file that pretty much automates the calculation.

All you have to type in is the existing shim, measured clearance, and the recommended clearance.

This excel sheet uses constants so a little less writing on your behalf.

It can be downloaded from http://www.re-cycle.ca/shimtable.xls

My excel program is too old to open it, I guess. I don't know if your spread sheet specifies which models, but don't forget that the intake clearances are less for the later models.

If you have an old version of Excel or not at all, you can go to .Excel viewer download the excel viewer.

You can also get a free version of a office suite called openoffice which is a nice free application suite that does most of what MS Office will do.

It will work with anything that uses shims. You enter the values you want (clearances and shim numbers). It would work for Fiats if so desired.
