Kick starter on an xj???

hey there was looking at the right side of the case and theres a rubber/plastic cap in the shape of a circle and on top of it it says kick starter. Is this some type of feature of this bike like for emergencies dont think i saw a kicker in the tool kit. what do you guys know about this thing? thanks

78 & 79's came with a kick starter splined shaft sticking out of the case in the area you indicated. They had a kick starter lever hidden down under the air box/tool box. This was for emergency (and BIG owners) Feature was dropped after awhile. The splined shaft was not installed and the hole plugged.
