83 maxim 650 upgrade to 1100 engine

Hey, anyone have any tips on replacing my 83 maxim xj650 motor with a 80 xs1100 motor? I'm hoping the 83 650 frame will fit it and the driveshaft all works. Let me know if anyone has any experience with this, I am getting the 1100 carbs and exhaust and possibly the cdi if mine won't do it. Thanks for any info. -Chad

The 650 frame probably will FLEX with an 1100 in it. You WILL need the cdi from the 1100, and the swingarm will take plenty of work.
Like anything else, it can be done, just how much time and money do you want to throw at it?

Well, I didnt get that motor afterall. The old 650 runs great it just has a bad starter clutch and I don't wanna split the case to fix it. I don't mind doing some fabrication to get that 1100 in there either, I would rather have more motor! Anyone got a 1100 layin around?
