I just removed every part from bike and is now on shelf in pieces. My main objective is primarily cosmetic restoration, repaint, buffing polishing. However I know there are mechanical issues I need to work on.. brakes, cables, carbs. The 1979 XS1100 special has 33,000 miles and was in good running condition. Now with motor out of frame what should I be concerned about repairing/replacing?

I'd be concerned about doing it in the Spring vice the Fall LOL
Sorry I just couldn't resist.
I'd just make sure all the seals that could leak were in good shape and probably adjust the valves etc. Inspect everything and be picky about what I put back on it. Go through all the tech tips and it will give you a real good idea about to be looking at.Russ Neal
