  • clutch lever

I'm noticing that some clutch levers have an electrical connection pigtail of some sort coming out of the handlebar mount. Mine does not. What would that be for?

The XJ's have a clutch / starter interlock.

Hi Randy. Here's link to one on ebay right now. It says 81 xs1100. Don't know if I should bid if it might not be right for my SG

If you don't need the switch, just remove it.

Could I use the switch even though I don't have one currently. I did try to start up last week in gear without the clutch in. oops.. So it might come in handy.

I suppose you could, but you're on your own as far as wiring it.

I don't believe the SG is wired for the clutch switch. Mine isn't, but the my SH is.

Looks like only some of the SH's had it then, because mine doesn't have it.

I don't miss not having the interlock after having one fail on a Suzuki a few years ago. It wouldn't start unless the clutch was squeezed, even in neutral. Switch died, and I couldn't even crank the starter until I bypassed the interlock.

I absolutely hate (and bypass if possible) all DUMBY features on cars and everything else. My first motorcycle was an '82 xj maxim 650 and it took forever to find out that I had a bad kickstand switch that would kill the motor the instant I put it in gear.

I'll only be on my soap box for a moment folks but these are just a small indicator of a much larger problem in our society. People aren't accountable for there own actions. Sorry for the rant.
