    Recommendations on Carb Slide Diaphragms?

Has anyone had troubles with the carb slide diaphragms available from partsnmore? or is there any reason I should be spending the additional $$ for original Mikuni diaphragms from cycle-re-cycle?

Obviously, I've just begun rebuilding the carbs and will be ordering parts from both companies including Mikuni Main Jets and a carb rebuild kit (containing only the float bowl gasket, and float valve assembly).

    thx.

    are they bad?

The diaphragms can be repaired in most cases. Go to your local Auto store (Napa) and ask them for a product called "Plasti-dip". It can be brushed onto the diaphragms repairing any small holes. To inspect them, put a small flashlight up against one side of the diaphragm and look at the other side. If you see light, repair the hole.

the stuff is great - works well on carb boots too.

I've picked up a couple spray cans of Plasti-Dip already and have been contemplating this as a temporary fix, however, more than one of the rubbers have a weak spot that looks like somebody ran a small zipper across the diaphragm.
BTW, what should be used to clean the diaphragms and carb boots prior to treatment with Plasti-Dip?

I would use nothing stronger than dish washing liquid, and a cloth or sponge.
