Hey, Doc
Please don't be insulted, but check that the kill switch is in the "Run" position. Now I pride myself on being pretty thoughtful, organized and logical, but I must confess that a couple years ago when my 78E wouldn't fire, I spent two hours of fiddling, disassembly, reassembly, testing with a generous measure of speaking in tongues, when I glanced at the kill switch only to notice that I'd inadvertently tripped it to the "Off" position! I flipped it back to the "Run" position, barely touched the starter button and she fired right up as if to say "What were you thinking?!" Of course I made up some troubleshooting mumbo jumbo to save face with SWMBO. And Doc, if that's it, you don't have to admit it. Good luck. Hope you get her running again soon.Dennis

I went out in the dark and checked with a flashlight!!! , it is in the run position! Whew, I lucked out! That doesn't mean I won't try to start it in the future with it in the kill position, though! Thanks, and I will be posting tomorrow or the next day with the next episode in this saga! I smell mini-series!!!Dr. Tim Walters

WOO HOO! Thanks to all who suggested the tip switch... I had put it on upside down... and since I had cranked it for about 3 minutes it smoked like the dickens when it finally got going! BUT IT LIVES!!! Now for the next problem: see new thread!
