  • Bubba's Selling His Touring Model

I just got the word that John Deere is closing down our company location soon and I will be looking for a job for the first time in 31 years. The boss says that all toys got to go and that includes my classic 1979 Yamaha XS1100 Factory Touring Model. It's listed currently on eBay at:

That really sucks Bubba. I'll bet some SOB CEO will get a big bonus for coming up with that idea. F*^%ing Bastards. SWMBO said that I should bid $1000, just to help you get the price up. I wouldn't mind owning it, but a grand would just be an insult. It's worth a lot more than that. It's a nice looking piece.
On the other hand... If you'd take a grand, I'll buy it tomorrow. Keep that in mind, just in case.

        Thanks everyone,

I only have a $1500 reserve on the gal, but that's not to say that I won't adjust that if needed. I payed that for it a year ago and I've put at least another $750 into it along the way.

I also have assembled a collection of spare parts from ebay auctions over the past year even though this may never need any of them. They include; a spare starter, stator, gas gauge sending unit, & oil pump. These will be thrown in with the deal.

Bubba, I would gladly give what it's worth had I not just bought a 79 eleven special. I wish I had seen yours first sorry bro.

My Bike sold this evening to a gentlman from south Indiana. He will be here to pick it up on Tuesday. He told me that he already has two other XSElevens in his stable! I'll have to send him this forum link. Steve's definately XSESSIVE enough to belong here!

Thanks for all the good times over the past year. I'll still drop in from time to time to catch up and say Howdy.

Maybe this fall when if I'm lucky to land another job, and get some debt paid off I can afford to get my third XS1100.

              Hi Bubba -

Sorry to hear about the closing--I read that a few days ago over on the KSMR forum. May life turn XSive for you again eventually.

Went to Cassoday today...in a cage (I probably shouldn't have admitted that). I took the kids down with me so they could see the experience. The looks on their face said it all, with perfect riding and bikes EVERYWHERE...I was there last June when I heard that was the biggest ever, and this one was bigger yet.

Again, I wish you all the best--

                Hi Tom,

I was planning on going to Cassoday myself to show off the bike, but it sold last night so i promised the buyer it would remain in the garage until he picked it up.

I've been to Cassoday many times over the last four years and it's a truely a unique experiance. Folks outside of Kansas can't consive of how neet this half day event is in the rolling flint hills of Kansas.

I thought that I would post the link to some pictures of bikes I have taken during my past visits.

I've taken my daugher to cassoday many times and she loves it. Then a couple years ago I took my entire family to cassoday and then took them all up to Cottenwood Falls to eat lunch at Emma's Cafe afterwords. My wife and son was really impressed with all of the bikes and the old courthouse at Cottonwood Falls.

                Take care Tom.

                    Hi Gaffer,

Yes this is not the way I wanted to part with this bike, but I'm certain it's going to have a good home and since he has a couple others in the barn, it will be with friends. Sure have enjoyed visiting with you over the past year. I don't have many friends from overseas. Good luck with your Bonnie. I'll stop in from time to time to chat about familure subjects.
