away on ebay for the ears ,i got 3 sets now!!!

set 1 on the bike when i bought it ,real nice ,even perfect!!! i

would say ,except some nob head has cut them (maybe to fit a

    non stock headlamp)

second set painted black but nice and staight

third set dented ,gutted pissed off!!!

the third set has a big square hole for the indicators?? is this for

    Gaffer,
Have you thought to look at the bracket from an XS 850 Special? I have them and the 850 headlight bucket on my 80 SG.

        Hey Gaffer,

IF your 79Sf is stock, then the headlight bucket should also have the square holes in it, the square holes in the ears are for the square bottom plates on the stock turn signals and the square holes in the ears, they used the same for front and rear, and the rear uses a special square holed grommet for mouting to the frame, to orient them in proper position, there's a small notch in that square base washer and a matching notch in the signal lamp stalk, so that it won't turn arbitrarily. So...if you have a bucket with round holes, then it's probably not stock!? Take a look at the yamaha Parts pages, the 79SF under the FLASHER lamp section, you'll find the the pictures that show the square holes and fittings!

Those ear parts are relatively small, might it be cheaper or easier to have them rechromed vs. trying to find NOS ones here!? I've got a spare set that I'll be putting on mine to replace my bent ones, so I know you wouldn't want the old ones!
