  • Exhaust Repair

I was lucky enough to pick up an almost perfect 1979 XS1100SF last year. It has 6500 original miles and has been garaged for the past 18 to 20 years. The guy I bought it from put new tires and and a new battery on it. I went through the carbs, changed all the fluids, and it runs well (meaning strong). The only problem is the exhaust pipes have rusted out in a couple of places on the bottom on the mufflers. These are the stock mufflers and I would like to save them if at all possible. There are two holes on the bottom of each muffler each about the size of a dime. Any tricks or advice on the repair would be greatly appreciated.

    Ouch.

I've seen patched up mufflers, but how long before another hole appears?

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.
