    IIRC Maximan did some "experiments" with cams. I believe the '78 cams gave a little more on the top end, but the later cams gave a flatter HP curve. This was with an XJ head, I think.

      more torque

      I want more torque throughout the entire RPM range for my new Final Drive Mod....So I will use the 80 head but want to be sure which exhaust and intake cam combo to go with....chop

        bringing this thread to the top again because I'm curious about xschop's question, if it hasn't been answered elsewhere. He's wondering what the best head/cam combo is.

        My question is what effect that would have on the bike... if you take the larger valves of the later head, and then the best cam (older?). My guess is that since these mods increase flow, it would only benefit if your carbs were jetted huge, with very good exhaust, then only at high rpms right? Because at full rpms the carb/exhaust is the limiting factor.
