    Hey there Fire2235Fighter,

The XS11's electrical system is weak at best, and when idling or just decelerating so that the rpms are below 4K, the charging system is not cranking out much juice, and with the brakes on, along with the running tail lights, and the head light, it's not uncommon for it to dim. That's why some of us have gone to LED conversions to reduce the amp load.

Doing a good cleaning of ALL connectors, charging system, battery leads, and such, can eliminate or reduce the drain on the system due to corrosion causing resistance, and may help to reduce the amount of dimming. A few folks have bypassed the reserve lighting system, and have reported that their headlight seems brighter!? YMMV. Hope this helps?

The Reserve lighting unit is designed to access the bright beam circuit upon failure of the low beam, I think with reduce power to it so that you can still have a headlight, but not blinding to oncoming drivers at night. Bypassing it will loose this function, and IIRC, will also allow you to put a switch on it so that it won't necessarily come on once the engine is running. If you don't put a switch on it, then the moment you turn the Ignition key on, the headlight will come on....again, as best as I can remember!!

If you review the TECH TIPS, modifications and such, you'll find posts about LED conversions, relatively simple or more complex! There's also a link about bypassing the RLU. Lots of info, check it out!
