    are there any good mags. or booksor websites specific to the restoration of a 79 or 78 1100

    and on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to find good O.E for these awsome sleds

    There is still some good stuff out there. Anything from a dealer will be $$$. Ebay is a godsend to someone that is putting one of these back together, but remember, most of the stuff there is as old as yours, so it may not be in any better shape than yours. There are some aftermarket parts available. Parts from other models will fit also. You would need to go to Yamaha's online parts catalog to check, and cross reference the part numbers. I cherried mine out from a ratbike back in 91, and thats when I began to find out that quite a few parts were common to quite a few models. I wish this site was around back then, but, there was no Internet back then, (was there?) and I didn't have a PC anyway. I had to learn it the old fashioned way. This web site is the best place for any info on these bikes. Read everything in the different links here. There is a lot of good stuff to read.
