Well, 212 F. is boiling point, but it doesn't have to be that hot to cause evaporation, just hotter than room temp to speed up the water molecules to escape/vaporization velocity.
Salt-Water(has an even higher boiling point) evaporates from your skin without boiling...although we sometimes feel like we are!

I know about working on the cheap but you can get a serviceable multimeter for $10-$15 at walmart or Autozone etc. I take that back I just looked at the Sears Website and they have a couple for less than $10 (8.99 and 9.99) Might be cheaper in the long run if you buy a coil you don't need. I've got on I bought at Walmart I think I keep it it the glove box of the truck. May not be superaccuate but we're not working on supercomputers here. I've got one in the garage I paid a lot more for but the cheap one works just fine for most stuff.

Hey Chief! How long's it been since you used a Simpson 260 meter? I haven't seen one in years.

            Simpson 260

It's been awhile, The good meter I bought at Radio Shack is pretty close to one, MAybe I'm just old fashoined or just old but the big old analog meter just feels right. That being said the little cheapy I bought will do just about everything I need it to do and It's small enough to keep pretty handy. And if it gets broken or lost it's not a big deal. They other was $100 but I got it on sale for half price.
