Sport bike calipers on an XS, Anyone tried it?

Has anyone tried to put a set of sport bike calipers on an XS. I think a XS would look cool with a set of floating discs and some 6 piston calipers. Let me know if anyone has tried this or any other brake conversion on an XS. What has worked or what did not!!!

    Hey there Excess11,

I got a picture in my email about a guy in Australia IIRC that did something like this, I think he rigged up a bracket to the STOCK caliper clamps to allow a quad piston setup, I think it used the OEM rotors, but not sure, I'm at my laptop right now, not my Desktop machine where I have that email and picture saved. I'll get it out and try to post it later!

Merriam Cycles sells drilled full-floating discs for the XS1100, $200 each.
My E will do stoppies (if I work at it) with my PnM mast cyl and SS hoses.
900 lb (bike and me) as long as the XS wheelbase is is tough to get the back wheel up.
SS hoses will give you all the stopping power you need.
I do agree that multi-piston calipers would look good.

        Hey there Pat and Excess11,

I found those pictures, they were sent to me by Jim Garvey, take a look:

It looks easy enough to do! But like Pat said, SS lines and strong MC should provide plenty of braking power, besides, I DON'T REALLY want to do a Stoppie....I like my back tire ON THE GROUND when I brake!

That doesn't look like the typical special's fork/slider. Don't the forks lead the axle on a special to give the appearance of a raked-out front end?

                        BRAKES

They look like Yamaha R1 brakes to me. Here is link to an ebay Item R1 calipers . They look the same to me! The floating discs look like they could be R1 also?

Hmmm... don't look even remotely similar to me.
If the color is original, maybe a brembo oro series?
                          Maybe not...
